Dear Students and Community Stakeholders:
Mill Creek Upper Elementary School houses all fifth and sixth grade students in the Belton School District. The entire staff is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and successful learning environment where positive releationships and effective communication guide our young people to be responsible decision makers in our school and community.
At Mill Creek, our staff strives to do everything it can to carry out the school's mission. We offer several programs to help students achieve our goal that every student is reading at grade level or above when they leave Mill Creek. The teachers have set high expectations for our students in an effort to help them become successful decision makers. Staff members, during professional development time, are continuing to design exciting and challenging curriculum. Every classroom has been equipped with projectors and imaging cameras to enhance teacher instruction. Our fitness program includes a climbing wall and cargo net and Wii Fit to add variety to the students' fitness instruction. Fine arts opportunities include art, music and band while using data to drive instruction.
We offer a variety of enrichment activities and after-school clubs. Our building PTA offers several evening activities throughout the year in addition to school-wide parties several times during the year. Our SOAR group offers after-school field trips to places such as Build A Bear and Extreme Fitness. The Police Department sponsors ASOP, an after-school activity for our students; DARE, a drug education program for all fifth graders; and DARE camp during the summer.
At Mill Creek, we have wonderful parents and community members who volunteer daily to assist our students. Our students benefit from tutoring, mentoring, and character education provided by our volunteers. Each year, with the community stakeholders' help, we conduct a parenting fair to keep our parents apprised of current issues our students are facing. These are just a few of the ways parents are involved in our school.
