Three Grace Early Childhood Center teachers attended a meeting to go over the newly revised Missouri Early Childhood Learning Standards (MELS). At this meeting the participants reviewed the standards and broke into groups to come up with strategies for implementing the standards.
The teachers presented their ideas to other educators, which impressed Department of Elementary and Secondary Education members in attendance. Kristin Cummings presented on social / emotional, Lori Steele shared in the area of literacy, and Sarah Birk covered math. After the meeting, Cummings, Steele and Birk were invited to present at Conference on the Young Years. They will also be a part of the group that will present the information to school districts throughout the state.
